Is the Judiciary Independent in Our Country?
In our country, there have been considerable confusions in the legal system, especially after the December 17 process. The number of prosecutors, judges, and lawyers dismissed from their duties due to being FETÖ members is increasing day by day. After the July 15 coup attempt, members of this structure, still infiltrated into state institutions, were identified. The state of emergency and decrees issued under statutory powers further exacerbated legal problems.
In fact, we can say that we are experiencing a process where the innocent suffer along with the guilty. The number of people who were dismissed from their duties and are imprisoned despite being innocent is undeniably high. The inadequacy in law and judiciary prolongs the trial process. A legal system that we can call healthy is not functioning under the state of emergency.
