Get Rid of Your Under-Eye Circles
To treat under-eye circles, it is first necessary to identify the reasons for their formation. Under-eye circles generally stem from 3 main causes. The first of these is insufficient blood circulation. Insufficient blood circulation can be linked to lifestyle or be a harbinger of illness. Fatigue, lack of sleep, low water intake, alcohol, and smoking also trigger these dark circles. Another cause of under-eye circles is increased pigmentation. The pigments, or coloring matter, in the skin under the eyes increase, resulting in dark circles around the eyes.
The thinning of the skin around the eyes, making the capillaries visible, also causes under-eye circles. This condition is usually encountered in advanced age. A small test can be performed to determine the reason for the under-eye circles. The under-eye area is pressed with the thumb and held for a while, after which the finger is lifted. If the color of the under-eye circles lightens, the cause of the dark circles is insufficient blood circulation. If there is no change in the dark circles, the cause is increased pigmentation.
