How Can I Prevent My Hair Loss?
Hair loss is a very common problem today. While experts consider a certain amount of hair loss per day to be normal, up to 100 strands, they state that you should consult a doctor for shedding above this amount. Our hair also goes through its own cycle. Hairs that grow eventually enter a resting phase and stop growing. During this phase, which lasts 2-3 months, hairs fall out and new ones grow in their place. This is how the hair cycle occurs. Both women and men can face this problem. To prevent hair loss, it is first useful to know the causes of shedding. Besides the normal shedding we mentioned above, another cause of hair loss is zinc deficiency. Zinc, a mineral that helps secrete hundreds of hormones in our body, can cause hair loss if deficient. To prevent this, we can take zinc supplements, provided we do not take them simultaneously with dairy products. If we take zinc with vitamin C, its absorption will be faster. Other causes of hair loss include: Familial-genetic traits, stress, incorrect cosmetic choices, trichotillomania (hair pulling disorder), medication use (chemotherapy, birth control pills, etc.), postpartum hair loss, high fever illnesses, thyroid disease, unbalanced and irregular nutrition (insufficient protein intake), iron deficiency. So, what can be done to prevent hair loss? First, you can consult a doctor and undergo medical treatment to regrow your hair, or you can have hair transplantation through surgical interventions. Alternatively, you can conceal the appearance with cosmetic products; wigs, prosthetics, and artificial hair are other methods you can use. However, let's talk a bit about what you can do before your hair starts falling out. The first and most important step is to eat a sufficient and balanced diet. We need to get the vitamins and minerals our body needs (zinc, iron, PABA, B vitamins, vitamin E, and protein). You can get these into your body through vitamin and mineral supplements or natural methods. Green tea, known to be beneficial for many illnesses, also prevents hair loss. Today, some cosmetic companies produce shampoos containing green tea. Saw Palmetto also prevents male pattern baldness. To prevent your hair from falling out, wash your hair before it gets oily, because an oily scalp does not allow hair follicles to breathe. Another small precaution is to comb your hair gently with a wide-tooth comb and massage your hair follicles with your fingertips.
